Woodside and Monktonmead

Residents of Arethusa Cottage

  • Accommodation at Arethusa Cottage Holiday Lodges is is offered for a holiday rather than a short term let.  The minimum stay during peak times (school holidays) is 7 days with the exception of Christmas which is 4 days minimum stay. You are welcome to book short breaks at other times (minimum 2 nights).  The maximum stay is one calendar month, by negotiation.

  • A deposit payment will be required to secure your holiday. If booking direct with us this is generally 10% of the total booking fee. Balance payment should be one calendar month prior to the holiday start date. If booking less than one month ahead, full payment must be made at time of booking.

  • Payments should be made by BACS, details will be given upon confirmation of booking availability.

  • Your lodge will be available for you from 3pm on the day of your arrival and should be vacated by 10am, unless prior arrangement has been made.

  • We have a no smoking policy at Arethusa Holiday Lodges, both in the lodges and grounds of the cottage.

  • The lodges must be kept clean and tidy, cleaning equipment is supplied for your use. We do not charge a damage deposit currently as we hope our guests will be honest and mention any accidental damage or breakages. If any costly item is damaged we trust that a monetary contribution or replacement item will be offered.

  • If you have booked with us in the summer months we hope that the weather will allow you to enjoy being outside in the evenings.  If you haven't booked both lodges together please do bear in mind that guests may be booked in the 'other' lodge and be considerate with noise levels late in the evening.

  • Please do not use fireworks or Chinese lanterns in our grounds.

  • If you wish to have day visitors to the lodges that is no problem but we do ask that you let us know in advance (we don't want to acost your friends or family if we think they are trespassers). If you wish to have overnight guests then this is acceptable, as long as the capacity of the lodge is not exceeded. Please advise us if you have guests wishing to stay overnight. Please note that our public liability insurance only covers guests booked into the lodges and not their visitors.

  • We are happy to welcome dogs to Woodside. Maximum of 2 dogs in peak season, charged at a flat fee of £25 per stay. If you wish to bring more than 2 dogs out of season, please enquire if this is possible.  We can provide dog poo bags, water and food bowls on request.  Dogs should not be left in holiday lodges unattended at any time, however, we may be able to dog-sit for you if this is helpful. We insist that all dogs are housetrained. If you wish to allow them on furniture please bring your own throws / blankets. There is a  nature reserve and fields, for dog walking, about 30 seconds walk from Woodside.  We do ask that you keep your dog on the lead in our garden.  There may be off-lead opportunities if other guests are happy (or out) and there are no squirrels around, but we cannot guarantee this.  If you have booked both lodges together please do not allow your dog(s) in Monktonmead.

  • We regret that we do not allow dogs or other pets in Monktonmead.

  • We strongly recommend taking out holiday insurance.

  • Vehicles, luggage and personal belongings at Arethusa Cottage Holiday Lodges are at the hirer's risk at all times. We shall not be liable to you or any member of your party for any harm, loss or damage to person or personal property arising from this letting.

  • In the event of you needing to cancel your holiday, please advise us as soon as possible. If we are able to re-let the accommodation we can make a refund to you, less a maximum £50 administration fee or hold the deposit over for a future booking if this is preferred.  If we are unable to re-let then monies already paid will be forfeited.

  • In the unlikely event that the lodges are not available due to circumstances outside our control (eg storm damage etc) then your booking may not be able to go ahead.  We will advise you as soon as possible and all monies will be refunded in full.  Guests will have no further claims against Arethusa Cottage Holiday Lodges.

  • In the unlikely event that the swimming pool is unsafe to use, a partial refund will be made to compensate.  This will be calculated based on the number of days the pool is out of use.

Use of Surveillance System

Arethusa Cottage Holiday Lodges uses Reolink Video Surveillance Cameras in and around the premises as follows:

In the lane outside the house / lodges and the turning circle - for security of the premises and guest cars.

At the guest gate - for security of the premises and of our own car on the drive.

Outside the pool doors (sited above the main door) - the camera has an audible notification for us so that we know when guests are going into and  out of the pool area (for security and so that we can ensure the pool filtration system is on when the pool is being used). Please note that the camera does not have any coverage inside the pool area and shows only the doors and paved area outside the pool.

There are no cameras inside the pool area or either of the lodges.

No footage of guests is retained or shared with any third parties.
